Laertes is the foil to Hamlet. He is a man of action, and the culmination of the play is his challenging Hamlet to a duel because he blames Hamlet for the death of both his father and sister, Ophelia. Laertes's costume started with lots of sketching of matador costumes and floral elements made with embroidery and beading are used to tie him to Ophelia as they are very close siblings and much of their story arc hinges on their relationship.
